Earlier this summer, Hicks cut his list of more than 30 offers down to a final six of Ohio State, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and USC, so one of his remaining four schools will not get an official visit. Prospects are only allowed five official visits. Florida is likely to receive another of his visits.
Hicks said last week about the Longhorns, "I've always liked Texas as probably everyone already knows. Coach Muschamp – I like his style. He coaches with a lot of energy. He tries to teach and I like that out of a coach because I want to learn the game."
Jordan and his mother have a long standing relationship with Texas S&C coach Jeff Madden. Hicks's mother worked in the weight room with Coach Madden when he was at the University of Colorado. The two also flew down to Austin for a summer camp in 2008.
"She liked it (Texas) a lot. She knows Coach Madden. They have a relationship. They definitely stay in contact."
Hicks' mother will accompany him on his visits. She also plans to move to the city where her son ultimately will play his college ball.
Hicks, who plays weakside linebacker for the Firebirds, earned First Team All-State honors as a junior. Hicks recorded 70 tackles, 4 sacks, and 2 interceptions for the Firebirds in 2008. Hicks also averaged 11.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game on the hardwood.
Through two games this year, Hicks has 17 solo tackles, 8 assisted tackles, 3.5 TFL, 1 sack, and 1 INT for 1-1 Firebirds.
