Texas Commits Schedule: Week Two

Every Texas commit in the 2010 class will be on football fields around the state this weekend. Week two will feature a terrific Saturday night game featuring Cedar Hill and Euless Trinity. Burnt Orange Beat takes a look at all of the match-ups.

Thursday night games open play for the week with Cedar Park hosting Lake Travis and Garland hosting Lake Highlands.

On Friday, Daingerfield will host Celina in what will be a standing room only crowd in Daingerfield. Chris Jones will be looking for a third straight week of scoring from 70 yards or more on a reception.

Traylon Shead plays against a 1A opponent for the first time on the season in Dawson. There is a very good chance Shead betters his 290 yards rushing against Grand Saline last week and takes another big step towards history.

Garland (1-0)

Garland won their opener 60-7 over Dallas Kimball, but had their game last week against Duncanville cancelled due to weather. This week, the Owls will play host to Lake Highlands (1-1) on Thursday, September 10 at 7pm at Garland's Williams Stadium. Lake Highlands features 2011 athlete Desmond Roland (6-2, 195). Roland has rushed for 186 yards on 23 carries as well as catching three passes for 45 yards in the first two games.

Tevin Jackson posted seven tackles and a fumble recovery in the opener. Adrian Phillips posted two tackles, one rush for three yards and three catches for 48 yards.

Garland Naaman Forest (2-0)

Naaman Forest makes the short trip on Thursday, September 10 to take on Mesquite High (0-2). Naaman Forest beat Lewisville 51-20 last week behind four rushing touchdowns by John Harris.

John Harris has 257 yards rushing and five touchdowns on 36 carries as well as 95 yards passing on 12 of 18 (2 INT's).

Cedar Park (1-1)

Cedar Park plays host to Lake Travis on Thursday September 10 at 7pm. Cedar Park beat Temple 28-14 last week to square their record at 1-1. Lake Travis is led by junior quarterback Michael Brewer, who has passed for 801 yards and rushed for 81 yards in the Cavaliers 2-0 start.

Denton Guyer (2-0)

Denton Guyer plays host to Saginaw at Denton's C.H. Collins Athletic Complex on Friday, September 11 at 7pm. Guyer beat Stephenville 45-14 last week. Taylor Bible posted five tackles in the win.

Guyer junior quarterback J.W. Walsh has completed 29 of 42 passes for 436 yards and four touchdowns in two games. He has also rushed for 171 yards and two scores on 20 attempts.

Haltom (1-1)

Haltom got their first win of the season last week with a 15-14 win over Hurst L.D. Bell. Haltom looks for a second win in a row Friday, September 11 at 7:30pm when they play host to Flower Mound High (2-0). Reggie Wilson posted three sacks, including one for a safety in the win last week.

Lufkin (1-1)

The Lufkin Panthers look to earn their second win of the season on Friday, September 11 at Nacogdoches (1-1). Lufkin lost 27-18 last week to Tyler John Tyler. Carrington Byndom has missed the first two games of the season with a thumb injury.

DeSoto (1-1)

DeSoto hits the road on Friday, September 11 taking on Richardson Berkner (2-0) at Wildcat-Ram Stadium at 7:30pm. DeSoto beat Plano 45-15 last week due in large part to career-games by Darius Terrell and junior quarterback Ryan Polite.

In two games, Terrell has 17 receptions for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Corner Adrian White has four tackles and an interception.

Tyler John Tyler (2-0)

John Tyler looks to improve to 3-0 on Friday, September 11 against Arlington Lamar at Tyler's Rose Stadium. Ashton Dorsey and his defensive teammates face a tough task against the Lamar running game. Lamar is 2-0 on the season.

John Tyler beat Lufkin 27-18 last week.

Alief Taylor (2-0)

Alief Taylor hits the road to take on Katy Mayde Creek on Friday, September 11 at 7:30pm at Katy's Rhodes Memorial Stadium. Taylor improved to 2-0 last week shutting out Houston Jones 48-0.

North Shore (1-1)

North Shore looks to improve to 2-1 playing host to CyFalls (1-1) on Friday, September 11 at 7:30pm. The Mustangs rebounded from an opening loss to Katy by beating Aldine Eisenhower 30-14 last week.

Sulphur Springs (2-0)

Sulphur Springs looks to improve to 3-0 on Friday, September 11 at 7:30pm at Wichita Falls Rider (0-1). Sulphur Springs beat Whitehouse 36-26 last week. Texas commit Bryant Jackson caught 10 passes for 106 yards and a score in the win.

Through two games, Jackson has 13 receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns and four carries for 25 yards. On defense, he has four tackles and one fumble recovery.

Graham (1-0)

Graham plays host to Burkburnett (1-0) on Friday, September 11 at 7:30pm. Graham beat Clyde 34-0 last week behind 224 total yards by Case McCoy.

McCoy has completed 11 of 20 passes (2 INT's) for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the season. He has also rushed for 42 yards and score on eight carries.

Daingerfield (2-0)

Daingerfield looks to stay perfect on Friday, September 11 playing host to Celina at 7:30pm. Daingerfield upset Celina (1-1) last year and Celina is coming off of a loss last week to TCA-Addison. The Tigers beat Paul-Pewitt 46-0 last week with Chris Jones catching three passes for 109 yards and a score.

Jones has six receptions for 201 yards and two touchdowns in two games.

Cayuga (1-1)

Cayuga hits the road to take on 1A Dawson on Friday, September 11 at 7:30pm. Cayuga beat Grand Saline 46-6 last week behind 290 yards rushing and three touchdowns by Traylon Shead.

Shead has 456 yards and five scores on 52 carries in two games. He now needs less than 3,200 yards to break the all-time rushing record.

St. Pius X (1-1)

St. Pius X plays host to Huntsville (0-1) on Friday, September 11 at 7:30pm. The Panthers beat West Columbia 49-22 last week. Greg Daniels posted 10 tackles and half a sack.

Daniels has 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks on the season.

Second Baptist (0-2)

Second Baptist looks to get their first win on Friday, September 11 playing host to Kincaid School at 7pm. Connor Wood threw for 261 yards and one touchdowns as well as rushing for 53 yards in last week's loss to St. John's School.

Wood is 41 of 86 (2 interceptions) for 486 yards and three touchdowns on the season. He has added 127 yards rushing on 20 carries as well.

Cedar Hill (2-0)

The state-ranked Longhorns hit the road for a second straight week, this time to take on state ranked Euless Trinity (1-0) on Saturday, September 12. Kick-off is set for 6 pm. The Longhorns shut out Wichita Falls Rider 28-0 last week.

Aaron Benson has 24 tackles and a fumble caused in two games.
