Texas to stay in Big 12

Texas will continue to compete in the Big 12 conference, according to a release put out by the school today.

University President William Powers Jr., Men's Athletics Director DeLoss Dodds and Women's Athletics Director Chris Plonsky will participate in a news conference at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The announcement brings an end to speculation that the Longhorns would join Colorado and at least three other schools in the Pac-10, and could put pressure on Texas A&M to stay out of the SEC.

With Colorado committed to the Pac-10 and Nebraska headed to the Big 10, the conference currently sits at 10 teams, or two shy of the number needed for a conference championship game without a waiver.
