The Longhorns are closely watching Chaparral high school quarterback Connor Brewer. As a sophomore in 2009, Brewer helped his team to a 5A state title, passing for 1,896 yards and 20 TDs versus six INTs.
"Texas is definitely one of my top schools. I would love to go there. They are probably the best school in the nation to go to. My sister is going to attend there next year for swimming," said Brewer to LonghornDigest.com. "They have been sending me some letters and I have been talking with their coaches quite a bit, especially Coach Davis. I sent them my film and they said they really liked it."
"I haven't visited Texas yet, but since my sister is going to go there, I'm going to check it out with her, said Brewer. "It definitely makes me feel like I'm doing something right when Texas is recruiting me, but I have to keep working hard. I know they don't recruit much out of Texas because they have so much talent there. I want them to look at me the same way they look at the Texas guys. I want them to come recruit me because they want me."
At this point, Brewer is open to anyone and everyone. He is expected to be one of the heaviest recruited quarterbacks in the nation for 2012.
"This summer, I'm definitely working on a lot of things. Since I'm preparing for the next level, which will be faster and bigger, I'm trying to work on reading defenses," said Brewer. "I'm working with both of my high school coordinators to work on different perspectives. I'm just trying to hone in on what defenses might try to do to me before they even do it."
