With Texas still looking to land a 2011 running back commitment, it's hard to believe that LonghornDigest.com is thinking about 2012 backs, let alone 2013. But, we are and today we feature Tyler Lee soon to be sophomore Laquintas Wallace.
Just a freshman last year, Wallace returned kickoffs and got a handful of carries for Tyler Lee in 2009. He ended up with 47 carries for 305 yards and five scores last season. With starting running back DaDa Brown gone to graduation, Wallace is expected to take over as the primary back.
The 5'10, 200 pound back is hearing from a handful schools already, after impressing college coaches with his play as a freshman.
"Texas, Oregon, and Texas A&M are some that come to mind. I don't have a favorite right now," said Wallace. "I definitely like Texas. I like how they are organized and their style of game. I like how they run the ball."
Lee returns six starters on both sides of the ball and is expected to contend with DeSoto for the district 11-5A crown.
"I'm just really working on my speed and my agility I'm also working my stamina a bit, I'm just trying to be the best back I can be for us," said Wallace. "I'm looking for a school that is pretty decent in football. Otherwise, I don't know what else right now. It's pretty early.
LonghornDigest.com will have an update on Wallace later in the fall.
