Gene Cross - Head Coach
Gene Cross became the head basketball coach at the University of Toledo in 2008. "The Toledo basketball program has a great tradition, and I’m looking forward to building on that tradition," Cross said. "Savage Arena is going to be a tremendous facility, and it’s our goal to have a team that will make our fans proud and fill the arena."

Cross came to Toledo from Notre Dame, where he was an assistant basketball coach for the past two seasons. Before that he spent one year as an assistant at Virginia, three seasons as an assistant at Depaul, and six seasons as an assistant at Illinois-Chicago. He also spent one season as an assistant coach and head coach of the freshman team at Marion-Franklin High School in Ohio during the 1995-96 season.

He played basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini from 1990-94, earning letters in the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons. He received a B.A. in history from the University of Illinois in 1994 and a M.A. in sports management from Ohio State in 1996.

Gene Cross is 37 years old. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. He has two sons, Justin and Gavin.

Brian Loyd - Assistant Coach
Brian Loyd is in his first season as an assistant coach at Toledo. He spent the past six seasons as an assistant at Oregon State.

Brian got his coaching career started in 1993 as an assistant coach at Queens (NC). After two seasons he went on to be an assistant at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for three seasons. Then he moved to Portland State as an assistant for two seasons. He spent the next season (2001-02) as the Director of Basketball Operations at UMASS, and then moved on to Oregon State the next season.

He played collegiate basketball for the University of Tulsa from 1986-91. He has a B.S. in sociology and communication from the University of Tulsa, received in 1991. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Bob Sundvold - Assistant Coach
Bob Sundvold is in his first season as an assistant coach at the University of Toledo, but has 26 years of college coaching experience. He started out as an assistant coach at the University of Missouri in 1978. He coached there until 1991, when he moved to Southwest Missouri State as an assistant coach. After one season he became the head coach at Central Missouri State in 1992. In 1996 he became the head coach at UMKC. Then in 2001 he moved on to Iowa State, as an assistant coach. In 2004 he became the head coach and general manager of the Kansas City Knights of the ABA. He spent one season there.

He was out of coaching until becoming an assistant at Toledo in 2008. During that time, he was a color analyst for ESPN Regional Big 12 telecasts and served as director of the Knights Academy, a year-round youth basketball program in the Kansas City area.

Sundvold is a native of Seward, NE. He graduated from South Dakota State in 1977.

Nate Tuori - Assistant Coach
Nate Tuori has been an assistant coach at Toledo since 2002. He started out as a graduate assistant at Wayne State University for the 1999-2000 season, and then became an assistant at Wayne State University in 2001. He left for Toledo after one season.

He played collegiately for three different schools. First from 1994-96 at Alpena Community College in Michigan. Then he spent one season at Aquinas College in Michigan for the 1996-97 season. He finally finshed his career at Rochester College in Michigan for the 1997-98 season.

He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He has a B.B.A. in management from Rochester College (1999), and a M.A. in sports administration from Wayne State University (2002). He and his wife, Nicole, have a daughter named Grace.

Brad Konerman - Director of Operations
Brad Konerman is in his first season as the director of basketball operations at the University of Toledo. In his role, Brad handles various administrative tasks for the program, including running the programs summer camps, organizing on-campus recruiting visits, and coordinating recruiting databases.

He started out as a student manager at Xavier University in 2004. After two seasons he became a program assistant at Xavier University. He spent two seasons as a program assistant, before coming to Toledo in 2008.

Konerman is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Xavier University in 2007 with a B.A. in history. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1985.
