Just days after St. John's Jesuit offensive lineman, Mitch Berg committed to Toledo, Garden City (Iowa) junior college product Arlington Hambright has decided to follow. The Rockets offered Hambright on Monday during his visit to campus and it was love at first sight.
I just got a really good vibe on campus, then I got to talking with the coaches and we saw eye to eye. My mom loved everything about the visit as well.
The 6'4", 305-pound lineman says he chose Toledo over offers from Arkansas State, Colorado State, and Idaho. Despite the impressive offer sheet, Hambright was continuously hearing from programs like Georgia and Iowa State but felt Toledo was the right fit.
"I had a good feel for campus since my brother (DeShaun Cole) is up there at Toledo as a top manager for the Toledo Men's Basketball Program," Hambright stated.
After committing to the Rockets just two days after an offer and a visit, Hambright says he simply didn't want to waste anymore time.
I really didn't want to waste anytime on deciding because I felt it was the right place to be. Plus, I didn't want to wait on the offer and have someone else commit, I wanted to make sure I secured a spot.
Hambright attended Garden City Community College via Belleville High School in Southeast Michigan after he was a non-qualifier out of high school. Now, Hambright hopes that his commitment may open the door for more Garden City recruits.
"I'm starting to get some of my teammates up to Toledo I think," Hambright added on the connection, "One of my teammates, Ben Phillips, is from Youngstown and will be attending a Toledo camp this summer."
