A few days ago, the coaching staff made a step in the right direction by offering 2018 Seffner, FL (Armwood) running back Jerome Ford. The high school standout only has offers from Arizona, Iowa State, Louisville, Samford, South Florida, Southern Mississippi and now Toledo. Ford is only a 2018 prospect and is a player many people expect to blow up on the recruiting trail. An early offer from the Rockets can only help their odds.
“I was really excited about my Toledo offer, they’re a really good program and school,” Ford said about Toledo. “Toledo is a program I could see myself at in the future. When I got my offer, I told my mom and dad, they were excited for me. One of the Toledo coaches came down to my high school and he told my coach he wanted to offer me at the spring game last Thursday.”
The Rockets already have connections to Ford’s high school and himself. One of Ford’s best friends and former teammate, Dedarallo Blue, is a Toledo signee and will be playing for the Rockets this season. That relationship will play a big role within his recruitment.
“I've haven't gotten a chance to look at the program yet, but my good friend, Dedarallo Blue committed to Toledo, so I'm pretty sure it's a good program,” Ford said. “I’ve known Dedarallo since the sixth grade and the seniors' last day was a couple days ago so we haven't talked yet.”
Ford’s connections to the Rockets have them in good position already for the Sunshine State prospect. In addition, Toledo’s rich history of being able to produce and get their running backs to the next level has Ford looking to visit this summer.
“Toledo is pretty high up with me, it was the first offer I heard about that day. I haven't planned anything or contacted anyone from Toledo myself, but I plan to visit this summer.”
Toledo Scout will keep you posted on Ford's recruitment.
