Toledo's Nathan Boothe Becoming Household Name Around NBA

Toledo fans were accustomed to Nathan Boothe dominating the Mid-American Conference. Now, the NBA is inquiring about the big man's talents.

Coming out of Warren Township High School in Gurnee, Illinois, Nathan Boothe never would have imagined hearing his name associated with the NBA. Now, after averaging over nineteen points and nine rebounds in the 2015-16 season for Toledo, Boothe's name is being murmured around the league.

Recently, Boothe has worked out for the Detroit PistonsUtah JazzToronto Raptors and the Brooklyn Nets. The six-foot, nine-inch big man has been shown interest from the Pistons, who are rumored to be interested in him with the 49th overall pick in the draft. Aside from Detroit, the Jazz will have the last pick of this year's draft at 60th overall and Boothe could be selected there as well.

Boothe has the high release that big men need in the NBA, making it extremely challenging for shot blockers. Aside from this, he has over a seven-foot wingspan and excellent post moves as well, making him a threat to make a NBA roster. The 22-year old performed in the Reese's Senior All-Star Game during Final Four weekend and scored eight points in front of several scouts.

As of right now, Boothe is not projected to be drafted but the four workouts and counting for him are a positive sign. Last year, the MAC had a player drafted 37th overall in Bowling Green's Richaun Holmes. This season, Boothe could have the best chance to be drafted in the conference. The NBA Draft will be held on June 23rd in the Barclays Center in New York. We'll keep you posted on the latest with Boothe and the Rockets.
