The Toledo Rockets are kicking off their summer football camps on Tuesday night with a camp at Bedford (Ohio) High School. This summer, the Rockets will host five camps from Tuesday until June 19th looking for the best talent in each specific areas. In the past few years, Toledo has had a lot of success finding the next big names. In fact in 2014, Hudson, Ohio quarterback Mitch Guadagni was on campus for a summer camp in which he was a standout, later committing to the Rockets. This season, the Rockets are hoping for much of the same.
Some recruits in attendance will already have several offers under their belts, just looking to see the Rockets' campus and meet some coaches. However, some recruits, like Dalis Williams of Okemos, Michigan who says he has always admired the Toledo program.
"I have one offer from Davenport University, a Division-II school and that's it," Williams told us, "I've been talking to Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan a lot so hopefully I will get offers after these camps, I've always been interested in the Toledo program though," he continued.
Williams is someone who is hoping to attract attention at the Toledo camp. Some players in attendance at the summer camps won't even play collegiate football while others may land the major offer they've always been looking for.
"I've always been interested in Toledo and I personally think I would fit in there with football and education as well, I've sent my film and information to some Toledo coaches and I think this camp would be a perfect opportunity for me."
Williams rushed for 1,043 yards as a runningback at Okemos but also made 35 tackles with four breakups on the defensive side of the ball. Either way, the Rockets will be looking for unique characteristics specifically set to their program.
The Toledo camp schedule looks like this:
