The Arkansas State-Toledo matchup has been a fun one over the past two seasons as the Rockets were able to defeat the Red Wolves, 63-44 in the GoDaddy Bowl in December of 2014. Last fall, Toledo won the second edition of the recent battle, 37-7 at the Glass Bowl right after defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks as well just two weeks prior.
This season, the Rockets will travel down to Jonesboro, Arkansas to meet with the Red Wolves. In very recent news, rumors were swirling that the game, originally scheduled for September 3rd with a date to be announced, has been moved. A fellow Scout website, A-State Nation found this to be true. On Wednesday, A-State confirmed to us at Toledo Scout that the game will be played on Friday night, September 2nd in order for the game to be placed on national television.
In fact, Arkansas State head coach, Blake Anderson had a recent slip up with the media after saying directly in a video, "The game will be moved to Friday night at 8 pm," to reporters. Anderson seconds later then stated that he shouldn't have said that but it was too late. So, there you have it. It looks as if the Rockets will take on Arkansas State at 8 p.m. on September 2nd, the national coverage remains to be seen but the game will be either ESPNU or ESPN2, exciting stuff for this fun and fast-paced matchup.
Toledo Scout will be partnering with A-State Nation for game previews and much more over the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more information.
