2017 St. Vincent (OH) PG Jayvon Graves Puts Toledo In Top Three After Visit

Toledo hosted one of their top targets in the 2017 recruiting class in Akron, OH (St. Vincent-St. Mary) point guard Jayvon Graves on Friday. The Toledo coaching staff rolled out the red-carpet for Graves and have put themselves in good position with Graves.

Even though we are several months away from the start of the college basketball season, the Rockets coaching staff haven’t stopped recruiting future stars. One of the staffs top targets in the 2017 recruiting cycle is Akron, OH (St. Vincent-St. Mary) point guard Jayvon Graves. Toledo may have put themselves in even better position after Graves’ visit to Toledo on Friday.

Graves was on Toledo’s campus for five hours on Friday, he only went for a short time because this was his second time he visited Toledo. During that time he had a chance to tour the facilities, campus, and talk to the coaches.

“They have a great staff that pushes these guys to be great people and great players,” Graves said about Toledo. “I went through the whole campus and met with the athletic director and things I really liked it the campus is set up very nice and up and coming. They are about academics first then basketball, there coaches are hands on guys. They have great connections after college for my profession.”

One of the unique experiences Graves got to have during his visit to Toledo was he had a chance to talk to Toledo’s athletic director, Mike O’Brien. O’Brien did a little recruiting for the Toledo coaching staff and informed Graves on how good of a culture Toledo has.

“I had a chance to talk to Toledo’s athletic director. He’s a very good guy, he has a great history and great mindset about Toledo athletics. He talked to me about how good the culture of Toledo is and what the school has to offer.”

Graves’ and Toledo assistant coach DeAndre Haynes have a really strong bond as it is. However, Graves and Coach Haynes spent the whole time talking and hanging out. As a result, their strong bond already, grew even stronger.

“Coach Haynes and I have a great relationship we talk often and he's a guy who coaches the guards, so it's a better bond. I was with them the whole time, I have a great relationship with Coach Haynes. Talked about how I will fit in and what my role will be like.”

This was another successful visit for Graves’ and put Toledo in a very good position within his recruitment. The Rockets are currently sitting within Graves’ top three list of schools.

“Toledo is a top three school for me, I am not going to say what other two schools are in that list. They are a great school and I am excited about what they have to offer. Mainly the relationship I have with coach Haynes and how I would get a lot of playing time right away.”

Graves will also be visiting Butler and Buffalo this month. He does not have a commitment date as of right now and plans to visit Toledo once again over the summer.
