Central Florida To Toledo Has Been Good, But Will It Continue With 2017 ATH Chauncy Smart?

Auburndale, FL (Auburndale Senior) ATH Chauncy Smart talks about his strong relationship with the Toledo coaching staff and his official visits.

Over the years, Toledo has had a strong presence in the state of Florida on the recruiting trail. The are trying to continue that success in the Sunshine state by landing arguably one of their top targets in 2017 Auburndale, FL (Auburndale Senior) ATH Chauncy Smart.

The Toledo coaching staff first started recruiting Smart after his very impressive Sparq rating after the regional Opening in South Florida. Since then, he has started to build a strong relationship with head man Jason Candle.

“Coach Candle started recruiting me after my sparq combines, he seen that I can fly so that's when he made it official with me and offered. The QB commit (Caleb Martin) has written me offend and they are promising me playing time as soon as I walk through the doors! Prior to the dead period, I'm was in contact with Toledo on a scale of 1-10 it would be an 8. I talk with Coach Candle and Coach Blackwell they tell me how high I am on there list and what they will use me as."

Toledo has pulled out all the stocks to land Smart, having their quarterback recruiting him, the coaching staffs constant pursuit, and the relationship they’ve built. However, the only factor remaining for Toledo is to get Smart on campus for a visit.

“I haven’t visited yet, I'm planning on it. I will more than likely visit this fall for an official visit. When I visit I will be looking at all the academic areas like class rooms, their library, dorms, and meeting all the coaches. Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State will also get an official from me.”

Smart is taking his recruiting process very slow, he is weighing all of his options and turning over every stone to make sure he makes the right decision. Well, he will be taking another step closer to making a decision as he plans to release his top ten before his senior season.

“I'll release my top 10 before the season starts. I think that Toledo has a great program! I like them and what they are about, I honestly think they are the best team in the MAC conference! So they will probably make the list, but I am keeping my list a secret.”

Smart is planning on using all five of his official visits, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, and Toledo are the only programs who will definitely get an official visit. As for a commitment date, one has not been decided, but it will be before National Signing Day.
