For the longest time, Jason Candle and the Toledo Rockets' coaching staff has been showing Auburndale, Fla. wide out, Chauncy Smart serious interest. Now, the Rockets appear to be targeting his teammate, K.J. Jenkins. Jenkins, a six-foot-three, 230-pound defensive end holds several offers from programs like Bowling Green, LSU, and Tennessee. However, a Toledo offer could really shake things up.
Toledo target, Chauncy Smart tweeted that he hopes Jenkins gets the offer and that the two would "go there" and dominate, basically. Jenkins has been receiving Toledo interest and Smart says he hopes they offer sometime this week.
"Toledo is a great football team and a great staff," Smart stated.
Smart, a five-eight, 160-pound slot receiver is one of the fastest recruits in the country with times recorded in the high 4.3 range. The Rockets would love to plug Smart into their offensive system and potentially, plug Jenkins into their defensive line. Smart recently released a top ten schools and the Rockets were on that list. Over the past several months, Smart has shown extreme interest in the Glass City and he tells us the duo looks to visit together shortly.
We'll keep you posted on the latest.
