Toledo Runningback Target Michael Warren Talks Toledo Visit

We caught up with Toledo Central Catholic runningback, Michael Warren on his visit to the Rockets' season opener against Maine.

The Toledo Rockets welcomed a big-time visitor to the Glass Bowl on Saturday evening for the home opener against the Maine Black Bears. Toledo Central Catholic runningback, Michael Warren was joined by his parents on a visit, just ten minutes from their residence near downtown Toledo. Warren sported a Toledo Football shirt on his visit as he was accompanied by high school teammates Sean Blue, a 2018 cornerback and 2017 defensive end and Michigan commit, James Hudson. As the Glass City welcomed football back for 2016, Warren was impressed with the fans and overall experience around the city and stadium.

"It feels familiar, I've been here a lot before," Warren told us, "This is my hometown so I've been to some games at Toledo and this is nothing new, it's a great atmosphere."

Warren, who has been quiet with his recruitment, says he's looking for specific things when he takes his official visits soon.

"Right now I'm just taking it slow and find the perfect fit for me, I'll be taking my official visits soon and I'll make a decision then. I'm looking for family first instead of football," he continued, "A school has to be interested in me as a human before a football player. If something happens to me, I need to know I can count on the school to get an education."

Right now, Warren tells us he will likely take official visits to RutgersIowa State, and "probably" Western Michigan.

As for Toledo, Warren doesn't need to take an official visit to the Glass City due to the proximity to his home. Due to the closeness to the school and the coaching staff, the Rockets are in solid shape to land Warren's services.

"I love the coaching staff, the surroundings, the fan base is very good and it's close to home so my family can come watch me play," Warren added.

As for his playing style, Warren scored six touchdowns in week two for Toledo Central Catholic High School and three in week three. So how would he describe his own running style? Well, the five-eleven, 200-pound back has an answer.

"I don't think you can find another runningback like me," he told us, "I'm a north and south runner, I get up the field. I'm not a special guy that goes east and west, I go north and south and get to the endzone."

Arguably the biggest target in the Toledo Football program history, Warren has the ability to see the field right away if he comes a Rocket.

"Right now I can't give you a date but soon," Warren told us on a decision date, "It's going to be soon," he continued.

We'll keep you posted on the latest.
