Tyler Long Receives First Offer from Hometown Rockets

Tyler Long is an athletic freak on the offensive line at Springfield High School. The six-four, 270-plus pound anchor received his first offer from the hometown Toledo Rockets, we caught up with him.

"The Toledo offer means the world to me," 2018 lineman Tyler Long told us after being offered by Jason Candle and the Rockets. The six-four, 272-pound lineman was offered on January 16 in the first of what Long hopes to be many scholarship offers. Long, who found himself blocking for recent Kentucky signee, Bryant Koback at Springfield High School, says that he is especially grateful to Coach Candle for recognizing his talents.

"This is great! My hometown university believes that I can contribute to their program and that means the world," he told us.

Long has been active with the Toledo coaching staff, talking to Jason Candle along with several members of his staff over the past few months. The hometown product has been able to attend junior days and visit campus on multiple occasions, which certainly has Toledo at the top of his list. Other than Toledo, Long has a lot of other FBS interest and will be receiving many more offers over the next several months. Despite being over 270 pounds, Long moves extremely well and has great speed and agility to pull around the edge, leading me to believe that he could play either guard or center at the next level. We'll keep you posted on the Class of 2018 over the coming weeks.
