The 2017 signing class received a big boost on January 22 when Birmingham, Alabama product Tadarrius Patterson verbally committed on an official visit. Since giving his word to Jason Candle and the Rockets, Patterson consistently stated that he was "shutting it down." Patterson, in fact, did shut it down today with his National Letter of Intent. The six-one, 219-pound outside linebacker has extreme potential to be something special in the Glass City, possibly as a true-freshman. Patterson is ranked as the No. 80 overall outside linebacker in the class and No. 2 in the state of Alabama.
Here is Patterson's evaluation from Scout.com:
"Patterson is a good athlete who can line up on the first two levels of a defense and make an impact. His top trait is his ability to get after the passer from either the defensive end or linebacker spot, using quickness and above-average technique to make plays behind the line of scrimmage. A rangy defender with long arms, Patterson has a wide tackle radius and uses his hands well against both the run and the pass. He will need to add bulk to his frame no matter his position at the next level."
Patterson should be something very special for the Rockets. We'll keep you posted on his development. Stay tuned to Toledo Scout.
