Cross Wilkinson Says A Decision Could Be "A Week or Two" Away

West Virginia quarterback Cross Wilkinson is a hot name right now at quarterback in the 2018 recruiting class. As of right now, two teams are really standing out to Wilkinson as we caught up with him.

As the summer begins, Wheeling Park High School (WV) quarterback, Cross Wilkinson continues to receive attention from programs around the country. However, for the 6'2", 200-pound gun-slinger, there are two programs that are standing out.

"Toledo and Ball State are up there for me," Wilkinson told us on his recruitment, "I really like the Toledo staff, the campus is beautiful, and the program has a winning tradition. Right now, Toledo ranks number one."

While the Rockets are sitting atop Wilkinson's list, he does have extreme interest in the Cardinals of Ball State as well.

"I really like the coaches at Ball State too," he told us, "The campus and surrounding area is great. There can be a lot of upside to the program in the future!"

With a current offer sheet consisting of the Rockets, Cardinals, OhioGeorgia StateMarshall, and Columbia, Wilkinson will likely see more before his senior season begins. Despite that growing interest from other schools, he says he's almost ready to verbally commit.

"Truthfully, I think I'm close to making the decision here in a week or so possibly. I just want to make sure I make the most informed decision that's best for me and my family. I think (I'll be ready) when I'm most certain that I feel apart of the family at the certain school or the most comfortable with."

Wilkinson says he will be looking for a solid education and coaching staff when he looks for a program to belong to, along with the program itself. Last season, Wilkinson was one of the biggest names in West Virginia high school football after throwing for 1,792 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior.

"I think my strengths are my ability to throw across the field, to get the ball out quickly, and my leadership capabilities on and off of the field with my team."

Whether he commits this week, next week, or in several months, Wilkinson knows what he brings to a team.

"I believe they're going to get a player that has a big chip on his shoulder," Wilkinson stated on what he brings to a team, "I will give my team all I have on the field, in the weight room, off the field, and in the classroom. It will be an honor for me to lead my guys out onto the field every day."

Wilkinson has had interest from FloridaWake ForestPittsburgh and several others but it looks as if Toledo and Ball State are the front-runners to land his services at this point. We'll keep you posted on the latest.
