Toledo Remains A Top School for Nick Carey

At 6'7", 290-pounds, Nick Carey is one of the top offensive linemen in the state of Michigan. As of right now, he has three programs that are leading for his services.

Detroit Catholic Central is one of the premier high school football programs in the entire state of Michigan. In fact, few programs in the state produce Division-One talent quite like the Shamrocks and that is no different in the 2018 recruiting class. Nick Carey remains a top target for several programs, including the Toledo Rockets

At 6'7", 290-pounds, Carey has the potential to play high-caliber left tackle once he arrives to a college campus. With current offers from BuffaloKent StateBowling GreenBall StateMiami (OH)MarshallUCFVirginia and the Rockets, Carey continues to attract attention. Despite the interest from several programs right now, Carey has three current standouts among his offers.

"The offers that standout to me are Virginia, Toledo, and UCF. They are all great places to me," Carey told us. "I love the coaching staff at Toledo. I think they are some of the best coaches and men I've met throughout this entire process. I also love the academic and athletic opportunities Toledo offers. Another great thing about Toledo is the proximity to home."

Clearly, Toledo has done well in their recruitment of Carey, who is one of their top targets at offensive line in the 2018 recruiting class. However, there are certain things that Carey enjoys at Virginia and UCF as well.

"I love the football staff, academics, and football opportunities at Virginia. At UCF, I like the culture surrounding the program and where the program is headed," Carey told us.

Despite having several offers to choose from, Carey is going to take his time with his decision. As one of the top linemen in the state, more offers are likely to come his way.

"I will make my decision when I feel 100-percent comfortable with going to one school and ruling out all of the others," he told us.

Before he commits, Carey has a checklist of what to look for in a certain school and program and knows what he's looking for.

"When I make my decision, I am going to take my opinions and the opinions of all of those close to me and listen to what they think in order to make the smart choice. I'm looking for a school that will help me excel most athletically and academically. I want the school that will give me the best experience in college and best set me up for the rest of my life."

No matter where he goes, Carey has been taught correctly at Detroit Catholic Central, both on and off of the field. Now, he's looking to take his skills to the next level and bring his strengths to a collegiate program.

"On the field, I'm a hard worker who will always go hard and do anything to make the play work," Carey told us on his skillset.

As Toledo's 2018 recruiting class continues to take shape, we'll keep you posted on Carey's recruitment as he remains a key piece to the puzzle throughout. As always, stay tuned to Scout.
