Venice Senior High School (Fla.) defensive tackle, Tyrone Barber is coming off of a dominant junior season in which he recorded 94 tackles and eight sacks. Towards the end of his junior season, Barber's recruitment began to blow up with several offers. Currently, Barber holds Akron, Iowa State, Marshall, South Florida, Purdue, Southern Mississippi, Toledo, Tulane, and several FCS options as well.
While Barber doesn't have any favorites as of right now, he knows what he's looking for in a program and a school.
"I'm looking for a good education, great vibes and somewhere I would want to live for the next five years of my life," he told us.
For Barber, Toledo may not be an official favorite just yet, but there are several things he's liking about the Rockets and their program.
"I really like the coaching staff, they're always hitting me up and doing a great job of getting to know me. I definitely like Coach Blackwell (Florida recruiter)."
Barber says he expects to visit several schools this summer including Toledo, Marshall, Iowa State, Purdue and several others. No matter where he ends up, Barber will bring several sought after traits out of a defensive tackle, especially at 6'3", 275 pounds.
"I have good get off, I'm very physical and I play snap to whistle, I'm just a savage dude," Barber told us.
As always, we'll keep you posted on the latest within Barber's recruitment.
