Few programs in Michigan have produced as much Division-I talent as Detroit King and that's no different in the 2018 recruiting class. Defensive end Maurice White has been a name on the rise in this class but on Thursday, he ended his recruitment by verbally committing to the Toledo Rockets.
"I committed because they show me they really wanted me to be a big part of their program and the coaches showed me love," White told us after his commitment.
The 6'4", 235-pound White continues the Detroit-to-Toledo pipeline that the Toledo coaching staff has worked so hard to build. White announced his decision via a video on Detroit King Football's twitter page, giving the Rockets commitment No. 6 of the 2018 class.
"I like the school overall, the campus, the people, facilities, and the business school is good so it has everything I want in a university."
The three-star defensive end held offers from Temple, Western Michigan, Kent State, Buffalo, Ball State, and Eastern Michigan. White had visited Toledo numerous times which certainly increased the chances that he ended up in the Glass City. As the trenches continue to strengthen for the Rockets, as does the future of the program under head coach, Jason Candle and his staff.
"I can't wait to put on a show for Toledo fans and win a MAC title there," White told us, "I play with a fast motor and a mindset to win every game I play."
