Q&A with Rocket Commit Kurtis Rassan

With a defense that has struggled through much of the 2007 season, it's no question that Toledo would like to add depth to its defense in the class of 2008. One player who has committed to the Rockets is linebacker Kurtis Rassan. Rocket Digest caught up with Rassan to get know how his season is going and talk with the Rocket commit.

Kurtis Rassan is a Toledo commit and one of the top talents in the state of Pennsylvania. With the need to pull in linebackers in the class of 2008, Rassan committed to Toledo during the summer. Rocket Digest caught up with Rassan to see how his season is going and to talk with him about his recruiting process.

RD: What is your current height, weight and forty time right now?
Kurtis Rassan: Currently I am at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, my forty time is 4.50 (self-reported).

RD: Your team won this past Friday in the playoffs correct? Also who do you play next?
Kurtis Rassan: We almost lost Friday it was a real tight game. They was beating us the whole game 19-14. In the fourth quarter with five minutes left we came back with a touchdown and won the game 21-19. We play Springdale we played them in the regular season and beat them 26-0.

RD: Do you participate in other sports in high school?
Kurtis Rassan: I run track. I do the 4x400, 4x100, 100, 200, 400 and possible the long jump.

RD: What schools offered you before you committed to Toledo?
Kurtis Rassan: I had offers from over half of the MAC conference, but I haven't even kept up with it and told my coach to tell schools I am committed to Toledo.

RD: Who is your recruiter for Toledo and how do they see you fitting into their system?
Kurtis Rassan: I talk with Coach Boyd (Andy Boyd-Outside LB Coach). I talk with him all the time we have a pretty good relationship. They are looking at me for an outside LB.

RD: What is your plans going into football next year? Also what are the coaches telling you?
Kurtis Rassan: I mean yea I would love to play right away. They told me that with my size, speed and ability to tackle I could come in and play right away possible even start at some point.

RD: What did you like about Toledo that made you commit to them during the Summer?
Kurtis Rassan: There is probably more what I like Toledo once I get to see the class rooms and hang out with other players and students, but when I went up there for camp and stuff it felt like home back in high school with how the atmosphere was around campus.

RD: When are you planning on taking your official vist to Toledo?
Kurtis Rassan: Some time next month after football season is over for me and also Toledo.

RD: Do you have any pro players you kind of follow oe try and pattern yourself after?
Kurtis Rassan: Well I really like Adrian Peterson and Shawn Taylor I love how he plays.
