Recruiting Trail Hits Indiana

The Rocket coaching staff are on the recruiting trail, looking for the best athletes to bring in and wear the Midnight Blue and Gold. One stop on the recruiting trail is to a powerful football school in Indiana.

Robert Martin is a senior linebacker for Pike High School in Indianapolis, IN. Martin, who runs a 4.6 forty, led Pike in tackles this past season with 124 total stops. He also forced two fumbles and recovered one fumble. He recorded 4 sacks and 11 tackles for loss while Pike went 14-1, with their only loss being a 16-7 defeated in the Class 5A State Championship Game.

Martin does not have any offers at this time, but he is being recruited by Toledo, Indiana, Purdue, Central Michigan, and Ball State. Pike High School football coach Derek Moyers talked to us about Martin's college selection process and spilled the news on his top three, "Toledo, IU, and Purdue," explained Moyers.

Martin is being recruited to Toledo by coach Doug Downing, and both Martin and coach Moyers like Downing and the Rockets. When asked about his impressions of Toledo, Martin said "Good from what I have seen on TV, but I will better be able to tell when I visit." Martin has yet to schedule an official visit with Toledo, but he wants to visit the Rockets at some point.

Pike offensive tackle Cameron Lowry is also being recruited by Toledo. Lowry recorded 25 pancake blocks and had a 90% blocking percentage in 2007.

Lowry has offers from Western Michigan, Western Kentucky, and Ball State. He is also being recruited by Indiana, Louisville, and Toledo.

When asked about visits, Lowry said "will be visiting Western Michigan, Western Kentucky, and Ball State soon. I will also be visiting IU as well and I just returned from the Louisville game last night." Lowry also mentioned an interest in visiting Toledo.

Lowry indicated that Louisville and Indiana are his favorites right now, "but I am open to all who are recruiting me" said Lowry.

That includes Toledo and coach Doug Downing, whom is recruiting him for the Rockets. Lowry does not have an impression of the University of Toledo yet, but plans to learn more about Toledo when he visits.
