Rockets Looking at 2009 DL Prospect

Toledo is looking for an improvement on the defensive side of the ball in 2008, but they are not stopping there. Rocket coaches might have found a defensive lineman for the class of 2009 right here in the state of Ohio.

Blaine Burgess is a 6-3 and 255 pound defensive lineman from Pickerington Central in Pickerington, OH.

He is a great student with a 3.98 GPA, and a great football player too. He has not received any official offers yet, but the 2009 prospect is being recruited by Boston College, Toledo, Cincinnati, Akron, and most Ivy League schools.

UT assistant coach Mark Rhea is recruiting Burgess for Toledo.

As a junior in 2007, Blaine recorded 23 solo and 38 assisted tackles with 8 tackles for loss.

"He's a strong, aggressive run stopper," said Pickerington Central football coach Jay Sharrett. "Playing multiple positions is possible (in college)."

Right now Burgess projects as either a defensive end or defensive tackle in college, but he could play linebacker as well.

Blaine has yet to finalize which summer camps he will go to, but is planning on several one day camps in June.

Stay tuned to Rocket Digest over the next several months as we keep an eye on Blaine Burgess and his recruitment standing with Toledo.
