Austin Moore Has Rocket Offer

It is no secret that the Toledo coaching staff has been working on improving their defense. The 2008 recruiting class had a big emphasis on the defensive side of the ball, and so far it looks like the 2009 recruiting class will again address some issues on defense. One player that could be a part of this emphasis is Springfield, OH linebacker Austin Moore.

Austin attended North Springfield High School in 2007, where he recorded 146 tackles, three sacks, and one interception. Of his 146 tackles, 90 of them were solo tackles and 32 were tackles for loss.

This fall Austin will be part of a consolidated Springfield High school, with the closing of North Springfield.

Austin attended the University of Toledo's Senior Evaluation camp a couple of weeks ago and walked away with a scholarship offer from the Rockets. "I liked the coaches," Austin Moore recently told Rocket Digest. He added, "They were intense and they taught the drills well and made it fun."

Austin told Rocket Digest that he enjoyed his visit to Toledo. "The campus is nice and its surrounded by a lot of things to do," Moore said.

UT assistant coach Mark Rhea has been recruiting Austin for the Rockets football program. Austin said that Toledo is recruiting him to play inside linebacker.

He also has an offer from Miami University, and has been hearing from Michigan, Ohio University, Indiana, Cincinnati, and Maryland.

While Austin says that he likes that Toledo has a good winning program, he does not have any favorites. "I want to keep my options open at this time," Moore said.

Austin is also a very good student and currently holds a 3.35 GPA.

Stay tuned to Rocket Digest over the coming months as we keep you updated on Austin Moore's recruitment.
