Alex's brother, Josh Steigerwald, is a senior at Cleveland Benedictine High School. A kicker, just like Alex, Josh handles both punts and field goals in high school, but has not attempted a field goal yet this season.

The 6-1 and 160 pounder runs a 4.75 forty yard dash. Last season he was named First Team Sun Press, First Team Northeastern Ohio, and All-Ohio.

He does not currently have any scholarship offers, buthe is hearing from Toledo, Kent State, and some Division II and III schools.

With Josh's older brother at Toledo, he has a pretty good knowledge of the campus. "I really like Toledo," said Josh. "Alex is always talking about it and it just seems like a great place to be at."

Josh has an open invitation to visit campus with his brother. "Yes, I have visited Toledo. Alex really enjoys Toledo. It's his home away from home. He loves the football program and has told me to come and stay with him and get the college experience."

Josh visited Toledo over the weekend for a recruiting visit. He was in attendance for the Rockets game against Fresno State Saturday night. He's already had a campus tour from coaches in the past, but he was excited about getting the chance to watch the Rockets play Fresno State.

Josh told Rocket Digest that Toledo assistant coach Chris Hedden is his recruiting coach at Toledo. "I think he's a great guy who always looks out for the best interest of the player and making sure he gets his degree from the University," Josh said about Coach Hedden.

Steigerwald lists Toledo and Kent State as his favorites right now in the recruiting process, but it is clear where Josh would like to go. When asked if he had an offer from Toledo, Josh replied "no, I would love to come to Toledo though."

Josh has no timeline for making his commitment, saying that he just hopes he can play Division I football somewhere. Toledo currently has two kickers on scholarship, Josh's older brother Alex who is a junior, and sophomore Brett Brodbeck. It is likely that Toledo won't have a scholarship open for another kicker for 2009, but may be able to promise someone a scholarship after Alex graduates for the 2010-11 calendar year.
