Rocket Pep talk: UT vs Michigan

Tomorrow is the biggest game of the season for the University of Toledo football team. You might ask why? Of course it is the next game, so that makes it the biggest game right now. It's also a very key game for a team that has lost three straight games. Another reason is because it is against Michigan. Need I say more?

Tomorrow is the biggest game of the season for the University of Toledo football team. You might ask why?

Of course it is the next game, so that makes it the biggest game right now. It's also a very key game for a team that has lost three straight games, and did not play well in their last two. A great showing is needed in this game.

Another reason is because it is against Michigan. For years Rocket players, coaches, students, faculty, and fans have been in the shadow of Ohio State and Michigan. Tomorrow is Toledo's chance to break through that shadow, even if only for a short period of time.

Michigan is one of the most storied college football programs in the country. Many Toledoans root for Michigan instead of Toledo every week in the fall. This is Toledo's chance to show those Toledoans what Toledo Rocket football is made of.

Many of the players on Toledo's team had dreams of playing in the Big Ten, and many for Michigan or Ohio State. They were passed up by Michigan during their recruitment. Now is their chance to prove that they can beat the players that they were passed up for.

The last couple of weeks have been rough for Rocket players, coaches, and fans. The result on the field has not been positive.

However, as I sit here today I am reminded of what one of the players said the other day. He said "I feel an upset Saturday." Another player said "I'm headed to the Big House for a big victory."

Despite what has happened the last two weeks, these players remain focused and confident. Maybe as fans we should do the same.

I'm not perfect, I'm not one of the coaches, and I certainly am not a motivational speaker, but this team, this game, and our fans deserve a pep talk for Saturday afternoon. Yes, Coach Amstutz and his staff will give their pep talk to the team. But the players need to know that we are behind them, and the fans need to be re-energized.........so bare through this:

Saturday is the biggest game in Toledo Rocket football history. This is our time to prove to the world that we belong and that we will beat Michigan.

Rocket fans from Toledo, Ann Arbor, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, and everywhere else will be cheering you on Saturday afternoon. You might not hear us all when you are on the field at the Big House, but we are here and we are behind you 100%!

When you take the field Saturday you get to do something special. You get to do what you love to do, playing college football at the highest level possible. You get to represent yourself. You get to represent your family. You get to represent the Rocket football family. You get to represent the University of Toledo. No one, and nothing should step in your way.

Win or lose, give it everything you have. Football, like like, is about giving your all and playing your heart out. Hold nothing back. Leave nothing to chance.

It's your time to leave your legacy on Rocket football. It's your time to to beat Michigan!
