Toledo senior guard Tyrone Kent was named to the preseason All-MAC West Division team earlier this week. The All-MAC teams were voted upon by the MAC News Media Association.
Tyrone was an All-MAC honorable mention last season. He led the MAC with 16.9 points per game. He also had 1.77 steals, which was 5th best in the MAC.
After having to play point guard last season, Kent will be back at the shooting guard position this season, which is his natural position.
Tyrone Kent and the Toledo Rockets basketball team begin practice for the 2008-09 season tonight. The Rockets will start out practicing at Toledo's Rec Center while the renovation project of Savage Arena, formerly Savage Hall, is completed. Head Coach Gene Cross is expecting Savage Arena to be ready for his team to start practicing in sometime in early November.
The Rockets kick off the 2008-09 season at the Florida Gators in the O'Rielly Auto Parts CBE Classic. Toledo's lone exhibition game and tune up for the Florida game will be against St. Edward's University on November 9th at 7:00pm at Owens Community College.
