Is Local DT Still on the Radar?

Tim Kynard is a 6-3, 255 pound defensive tackle from St John's Jesuit in Toledo, Ohio. Back in December Kynard picked up an offer and made a quick commitment. Where does Kynard stand with that commitment? Did Toledo ever offer him? Read on to find out.

Tim Kynard is a 6-3, 255 pound defensive tackle from St. John's Jesuit in Toledo, Ohio. After a strong senior season, Kynard started to pickup recruiting interest from Toledo and Illinois.

He visited Toledo the weekend of December 12th despite not having an offer yet from the Rockets. "Tim loved his visit to Toledo," St John's Jesuit football coach Doug Pearson told Rocket Digest. "He really liked Coach Beckman (and) he has developed a good rapport with Coach Ward as well."

Tim was told that Toledo would let him know in about a week if he was going to get an offer from the Rockets.

In the meantime he received an offer from Illinois of the Big Ten conference and committed to them right away. However, Kynard still wondered about Toledo.

"I'm still waiting on Toledo," Tim Kynard told after committing to Illinois.

Toledo did come through with that official offer to Kynard. Tim's high school coach Doug Pearson filled Rocket Digest in yesterday. "Tim has been offered by Illinois, as well as Toledo, Miami of Ohio, and I expect Michigan State to offer next," said Coach Pearson.

Toledo and co-defensive coordinator Mike Ward would love to see Kynard as a Rocket next fall, and it appears that despite the commitment to Illinois he is considering the Rockets.

This is one recruitment that will likely go down to the wire, possibly with uncertainty straight up to signing day. As new developments in Tim Kynard's status as a Toledo Rocket football prospect come on, you can count on Rocket Digest to bring yout he latest.
