Crucial Visit Weekend

With 14 verbal commitments in, this weekend is a crucial one in terms of rounding out the class. Rocket Digest brings the latest on what is left to fill out the class and who might fill some of those spots from visits this weekend. Read on to find out more.

Head Coach Tim Beckman and his staff have 14 verbal commitments heading into the weekend. The Rockets have some important visitors on campus this weekend as they look to fill up the rest of the class.

With what looks like just 4 spots left to fill up the class, this weekend is very crucial. One prospect coming in at the end of the weekend is Tallahassee, Florida quarterback Austin Dantin. Dantin is taking an official visit to Michigan first, and then coming down to Toledo Sunday and leaving on Monday.

If Dantin does not receive an offer from Michigan while on the visit, his decision will likely come down to Toledo and Central Michigan. He visited the Chippewas last weekend. If Michigan offers, it becomes a three team race for his services.

Another key prospect to be on UT's campus this weekend is defensive back Jason Pinkston of Cleveland Glenville High School. Pinkston is part of a trio of Glenville prospects that Toledo is recruiting. Linebacker Travis Freeman was on campus last weekend, and quarterback Terrance Owens has also been getting recruited by the Rockets.

Cincinnati Princeton defensive end Anthony Shoemaker is another prospect to be on campus for an official visit. Toledo has commitments from three defensive ends already in Ben Pike, TJ Fatinikun, and Christian Smith. However, don't be surprised if the Rockets land one more defensive end and Shoemaker could be that guy.

As the weekend wraps up and we head into the final full week before signing day, Rocket Digest will bring you the latest news on how the weekend visits went and who will take up the final spots in Toledo's 2009 football recruiting class.
