Rockets Lend Helping Hand

The Toledo Rocket football team is busy with winter conditioning and preparing for spring practices, but the team is taking time out to visit the community and lend a helping hand.

Last Friday, members of the Toledo Rockets football program participated in Give Kids a Smile day at both the University of Toledo Medical Center and the Dental Center of Northwest Ohio. 20 Rocket players entertained patients in the waiting room while talking about sports and the importance of staying healthy to be an athlete. They also autographed posters and escorted patients from rooms. At the end of this article is a brief photo gallery from the event.

Earlier today members of the football team made Valentine's Day cards that they will take to the Toledo Children's Hospital on Friday. From 11am until Noon they will pass out the cards to patients at the hospital. Rocket Digest will have photos from that event sometime next week.

Finally, next Friday the Rockets will be going to Lincoln Academy to participate in the Kids Unlimited after school program. At this event members of the football team will be playing basketball and dodgeball with the kids. They will also talk to the kids about school, grades, and life in general. The kids that are in the Kids Unlimited after school program are in grades kindergarten through sixth grade.

Another community event is planned for Friday, February 27th. However, details for that event are not finalized yet. Stay tuned to Rocket Digest for more information on that event and for photos from this Friday's Valentine event in the coming days.
