Welcome to Rocket Round Up. In this edition we catch up with the Rocket basketball recruiting, plus get the latest on what to look for once the football squad opens Spring practice in just a few short weeks.

Starting with basketball recruiting...

It concerned many people on November 20, 2008 when new Rockets head coach Gene Cross held a press conference and announced just three signed commitments. Devin Russell, Hayden Humes and Jordan Dressler all signed on to be part of the Rocket program for the 2009-10 season. Missing, though, was 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard Chris Poellnitz, whom had issued a public commitment to the Rockets per the Toledo Blade this past June.

"It just looked like a good situation for me," Poellnitz told the Toledo area paper almost a year ago. "I met with coach (Gene) Cross and his staff and they seem real genuine. They have a nice outlook of where they want to go with the program."
