The coaching staff at Toledo have Kurtis on the recruiting radar, and he has been to campus a couple of times. "I have been there for a Junior Day and a spring practice," Kurtis recently told Rocket Digest. "I liked the campus. Everything is together for the most part," he added.

Drummond is being recruited to Toledo by Coach Candle. "Coach Candle is young and energetic, and that's how the Toledo coaching staff is; energetic, and I like that about them," Drummond said. He added, "they are a family and I also like that."

Kurtis played wide receiver and cornerback last season at Hubbard, and is expecting to play wide receiver and safety as a senior in the fall. Right now Kurtis says that he is being recruited as an athlete that could play several different positions in college.

His 6-3 and 190 pound frame, along with 4.6 speed, is catching the eye of college coaches. In regards to his recruitment, Kurtis said, "I am hearing from Toledo, Akron, Bowling Green, Kent State, Indiana, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, and Northwestern. That's all that I can think of at the moment."

He also says he has offers from Toledo, Akron, Kent State, Bowling Green, Indiana, and Michigan State.

When asked about favorites in the recruiting process, three schools came to mind. "From the schools that I have seen, Toledo, Indiana, and Cincy are at the top," said Drummond.

However, despite having a top three he is far from making any decisions. "I really want to wait until after my senior season, but no one can really predict what will happen," Kurtis said when asked if he had a timeframe for making a decision.

On top of being a talent on the field, he is a solid student in the classroom. Kurtis currently holds a 3.0 GPA.
