On the recruiting front, this week the coaches started hitting the road to visit as many high schools in a 5 hour radius of UT as possible over the next month.

On Monday coaches were in Cleveland, OH and Detroit, MI. One particular high school that UT visited was Renaissance High School in Detroit, where CB Mylan Hicks attends. Hicks has offers from Toledo and several other schools, and seems to be high on the Rocket radar.

On Tuesday the coaches spread out further, hitting schools in cities such as Chicago, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh. Wednesday was much of the same, hitting schools throughout Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Illinois. Today coaches were out to Akron, Canton, Youngstown, and Steubenville.

As well as visiting kids in schools within a 5 mile radius, the coaches have been staying in contact with kids from other areas as well. Wide receiver Devante Stamps (Pomfret, MD) received a letter and invitation to attend one of UT's summer camps according to his father. Devante's father told Rocket Digest that he is definitely interested in Toledo and is hoping to visit campus in early June. Stamps is 6-3 and 190 pounds. He was recently named 2nd Team Offense All Combine Team at's Baltimore Combine.

At that same combine, Brendon Felder was named MVP at the combine. Within a few days he received an offer from Toledo. Felder is a 5-10, 162 pound defensive back with 4.37 speed. The Monroeville, PA native has offers from Toledo, Boston College, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo.

One of the latest offers from Toledo is to safety Marcus Penn from Whetstone High School in Columbus, OH. Penn is a 6-3, 193 pound athlete with 4.5 speed. Penn became a sensation as a sophomore with 98 tackles and 5 interceptions. He's been a bit under the recruiting radar of most schools though.

One of the biggest question marks on the football team the last few years has been defensive tackle. The Rockets are looking at some good defensive tackle prospects for the 2010 recruiting class. Loganville, Ga native Shawn Green (6-1, 283) has several BCS offers to go along with the offer from Toledo. Also, the Rockets recently offered Terry Talbott of Wayne High School in Huber Heights, OH. Talbott (6-4, 245) has offers from Toledo and Wisconsin.
