Toledo Pursues Defensive Tackle

One position that Toledo wanted to improve when the new staff took over was defensive tackle. In the 2009 class they brought in JUCO Johnnie Roberts. Once again in the 2010 class Toledo will be looking for talent at defensive tackle with guys like Maurice Hill and Skylaar Constant entering their senior season at UT. Read on for more on one of those DT prospects.

Roosevelt Nix is a 6-0, 250 pound defensive tackle from Reynoldsburg, OH. He plays both fullback and defensive tackle at Reynoldsburg High School, but he is strictly being recruited by colleges to play on the defensive line.

Right now he is up to six offers, mostly from the MAC. He has offers from Toledo, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Air Force, and Tiffin University. He is also hearing from Ohio University, but does not have an offer from them.

Toledo assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Alex Golesh has been the primary recruiter of Nix for the Rockets.

"No, I don't really have any favorites yet," Nix told Rocket Digest when asked about any leaders for his services.

Nix is rated #80 in Ohio High Magazine's Top 100 in the class of 2010. He runs a decent 4.79 forty for a 250 pound defensive lineman. He bench presses 315 pounds with a max of 17 reps. He is also a solid student in the classroom with a 3.2 GPA.

Last season Nix recorded 85 tackles with 34 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles.

Roosevelt, he also wrestles at Reynoldsburg High School, is the son of Roosevelt Sr, who played three years in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings.

When asked about a time frame for making a decision, Nix said that he really has not thought about it much at all and is still wide open.

Stay tuned to Rocket Digest over the coming months as we keep you updated on Roosevelt Nix and his status as a Toledo Rocket football prospect.
