Manessah Garner is a 6-2, 201 pound athlete from Brashear High School in Pittsburgh, PA. He is rated three stars by and ranked the #22 outside linebacker prospect in the country. He has great speed, running a 4.50 forty yard dash.

"I have offers from Pitt, Maryland, Wisconsin, UCONN, Toledo, Buffalo, Akron, and Minnesota," Garner told Rocket Digest in a recent phone interview.

Manessah is being recruited to Toledo by assistant coach Jason Candle. Toledo is currently recruiting him as a tight end or slot receiver. "They were recruiting me at outside linebacker at first, but I told them I preferred offense and they said okay you can play offense then. I played both slot and tight end on offense (last season)."

Garner had 50 receptions for 702 yards and 10 touchdowns as a tight end and slot receiver. He also recorded 84 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 6 sacks on the defensive side of the ball.

Manessah is reluctant to name any favorites in the recruiting process at this point. "I like some things about each school. No one is over the top at this point."

Despite living four hours or so from the University of Toledo, Garner has visited UT's campus before. "I came for the Spring Game," Garner said. He added, "I liked it a lot. The coaches are great. They are consistent at what they want and that stands out to me."

Manessah is from the same high school as incoming Toledo Rocket true freshman safety Jermaine Robinson. Robinson graduated from Brashear High School in the spring of 2008, and then went to a prep school in the fall before enrolling at Toledo in January.

Manessah already has one official visit scheduled for this fall. He is going to be visiting Wisconsin on September 12th. Though he does not have any other official visits setup, he is planning on a couple more. "I definitely want to take official visits to Toledo and Maryland. Pitt I see a lot with living here, but if it comes down to it I could take one there too."

In the classroom Manessah is a solid student with a 2.9 GPA and a core GPA of 2.7. "That core GPA will be going up though after this past semester. I won't know my new core GPA until school starts in the fall."
