Tre Porter is a 6-0, 185 pound cornerback from Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Last season Porter had 96 tackles, 4 interceptions, and one sack. He's also a good student in the classroom with a 2.9 GPA.

His efforts on the field are what is garnering all the attention. Rocket Digest recently caught up with Porter and asked him who he has offers from. "Toledo, Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Texas Tech.... and there's some other schools that I can't remember, but they don't really matter anyway."

Toledo assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Alex Golesh is recruiting Porter for the Rockets. Toledo, like everyone else, has offered him as a defensive back.

The thing that really sets Tre apart is his speed. "I run a 4.4 flat," Porter said when asked what his forty time is. Add that speed to a 6-0, 185 pound frame on a cornerback and you have a combination that college coaches dream of.

This summer Porter has been mainly working on three things to improve his game. "My speed, my stamina, and my strength," said Porter. He has kept his forty time low while gaining 15 pounds of muscle since last fall by staying dedicated in the weight room.

When asked about favorites, Tre said that he has not formed a list of favorites yet and he does not have a timeframe for making a commitment. He did explain his process for getting out to check out the schools he is interested in. If a school is close to home he is planning on driving and taking an unofficial visit.

As for the other schools? "I'm definitely planning on a visit (official) to Toledo and Nebraska," Porter said. He added, "The schools that are too far away to drive.... Toledo, Nebraska, and Arizona." At this time Tre has not scheduled any of those official visits, but he hopes to do so in the near future.

Rocket fans might also remember the name of his high school, Carl Alberts HS. Incoming freshman defensive end Christian Smith is from Carl Alberts High School as well. Smith, who played in the Oil Bowl All Start game, is enrolled in summer classes at Toledo and is on campus now working out with other Rocket teammates.

Rocket Digest will keep you updated on Tre Porter's recruitment and the status of his pending official visit to Toledo in the fall.
