Tulane (3-2) saw its two-game win streak come to an end Friday at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Alabama, in the USA Basketball Classic. The Green Wave shot a meager 38.2% from the field and 43.8% from the charity stripe as Tulane fell to UC-Davis 76-62.

Tulane (17-15) fell to the #2 Memphis Tigers (31-1) in the quarterfinal round of the Conference USA Tournament 75-56 Thursday night. Tulane was led by senior forward David Gomez, who scored a game-high 18 points.

Senior guard Donnavan Stith hit two freethrows with 4.4 seconds left Saturday at Fogelman Arena to secure a spot in the Conference USA Tournament and give the Green Wave (16-14, 6-10)its second consecutive winning season. Four Green Wave players hit double figures in 77-75 win over East Carolina (11-18, 5-11).

Tulane (15-13, 5-9) closed out the regular season with a 69-44 loss to UAB (21-8, 11-3) Saturday at Bartow Arena before a crowd of 7,037. The Green Wave had no answer for the Blazer's Robert Vaden who scored a game-high 30 points. The loss marked the 7th consecutive defeat for the Green Wave.

Memphis (26-0, 12-0) proved why they were the top ranked team in the nation, defeating the Green Wave (15-10, 5-6) 97-71 before a packed house at Fogelman Arena. The Tigers held an advantage in every statistical category despite a valiant effort by the out-matched Green Wave.

In late March Sampay committed to Wichita State, right before Shocker head coach Mark Turgeon resigned to take the Texas A&M head coaching job. Sampay has since said that he will wait until the end of the signing period to see how things clear up at Wichita State before signing.

In the first half, the Green Wave never trailed although the Hurricanes tied the score at 2-2, and 6-6. The Wave led by as many as 11 but took an 8-point lead, 31-23, into the halftime locker room. Both teams played sluggish basketball in the early going and with 8:30 remaining the Wave led by the anemic score of 13-10
