The Tulane football team continued to work toward the season-opener with their second two-a-day practice of the preseason Thursday at the Westfeldt Complex.
The Green Wave donned full pads in the morning session before taking it down to shorts, lids \and shoulder pads in the afternoon. Tulane will have the morning off on Friday before getting back to work in the afternoon at 4 p.m.
"I thought practice went well again today,"
head coach Chris Scelfo said. "We did a lot
of good things in different situations, and that
shows us that the team understands what we're trying to get out of practice.
"They're beginning to get leg weary, and that's normal, but that's what this is all about. We've got to find out who on our team is going to
keep fighting when they're tired."
After individual drills, the Green Wave went
into full-team sessions and was highlighted by the practice-ending two-minute drill. The offense
moved the ball well early as the No. 1s drove
the length of the field for a score on the first possession. From there, however, the defense
took over as redshirt-freshman cornerback Jeremy Foreman picked off a pass to thwart one drive
and forced the offense to turn the ball over
on downs later in the period.
Following Friday's single practice, the Green Wave will be on display as Tulane holds its second annual "Fan Day" celebration beginning
at 9 a.m. at the Westfeldt Complex. The football team gets things started with an open practice and scrimmage slated to run until 11 a.m. After that, members of the football, volleyball, soccer and cross country teams will be on hand, and fans can get autographs or take pictures with their
favorite Green Wave student-athletes. Free schedule posters will also be available, while music, food, drinks and games for kids will be
Tulane opens the regular season on Labor Day, Sept. 1, when they play host to Conference USA foe TCU before a nationally-televised audience
