Player Profile: Jimmy Coleman

Tulane has had alot of production from undersized Georgia linebackers in the past two years. Coach Chris Scelfo and his staff hope that Jimmy Coleman of Tucker High School in Tucker, Georgia turns out to be as productive as Anthony Cannon and Patrick Benford.

Jimmy Coleman is 6-foot, 195 pounds, and possesses impressive 4.45 speed in the 40. He is academically qualified. Coleman played fullback and strong safety at Tucker HS but projects as an outside linebacker. He reportedly runs a 14.2 second 110 m hurdles.

Tucker finished 12-2 this season and was 34-4 over the past 3 years. Coleman finished his prep career with 121 carries for 1,008 yards (8.3 yards per carry) and 12 touchdowns.

As a senior, he was one of the Tigers' leading tacklers for the Class 4A semifinalist. From his strong safety position Coleman recorded 89 tackles, including 55 unassisted and 34 assists, 3 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 3 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 forced fumble. Offensively, he had 53 carries for 608 yards (11.5 yards per carry) and 9 touchdowns. He chose Tulane over Clemson, Middle Tennessee State, and Troy State.
