Neville Quarterback Has Three Visits Set

Among the versatile athletes stocking Louisiana's recruiting class of 2005 is Darrell McNeal, the 6-foot, 195-pound quarterback from Neville High School in Monroe, La.

McNeal, who could project as a safety, running back or wide receiver, led Neville to a 13-2 record in a dream season that ended with a heartbreaking loss to perennial prep power John Curtis Christian in the 4A semifinals by the margin of of a field goal, 24-21.

According to Neville coach Mickey McCarthy, Darrell is hearing from Louisiana Tech, Tulane, Louisiana-Monreoe, Northwestern Louisiana and Louisiana-Monroe and had offers from all but Tulane.

Here's what Darrell had to say to TI staff Wednesday evening.

"We had a good season, went 13-2, made it to the semifinals. I did pretty good, played quarterback and receiver and ended up with like 20 touchdowns," Darrell paused. "We just bounced up against John Curtis."

TI: " Darrell, give us your basic info: height, weight, 40 time, bench press.
DM: 6-0; 195; 4. for the 40; bench max 295#.

TI: How about academics?
DM: I'm already qualified.

TI: Do you have any visits set up?
DM: Louisiana Tech on Jan. 14; Louisiana-Monroe on Jan. 21 and USM on Jan. 28.

TI: Have you gotten any scholarships offers as if yet?
DM: Yessir, they've all already offered me scholarships.

TI: Hearing from anybody else?
DM: Northwestern Louisiana.

TI: Have any favorites?
DM: No favorites.
