Ducre Still In The Picture

Last week, reports began surfacing that running back Christian Ducre (6-0, 201, 4.49) of Foutainebleau High School had committed to Southern Mississippi. However, Fountainebleau Head Coach Larry Farve indicated the Tulane is not out of the picture, yet.

When asked about Ducre's commitment, Favre said, "Yeah, he told Coach Bower's over the phone that he was going to Southern Miss, but I wouldn't consider it a firm commitment. He (Ducre) hasn't even taken his visit there yet. He's leaving tomorrow (1/14) for his visit. I told him to at least take his visit there and see the campus, see the facilities, see the weight room, meet the coaches. If he comes back Monday and says that's where he wants to go, we'll contact everyone and let everyone know. As of right now, he's still going to Tulane next weekend." Coach Favre indicated that Ducre did visit Louisiana Tech on January 7th.

Christian is the son of former Tulane running back Brad Ducre. Ducre projects as a running back or strong safety on the next level. He was a 3-time All-District 5-5A selection. As a junior, he had 145 carries for 905 yards (6.2 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns. As a senior, he had 204 carries for 1,325 yards (6.5 yards per carry) and 16 touchdowns for the state semifinalist. Ducre was named Class 5A All-State, All-Metro, and District 5-5A Offensive Player of the Year.

When asked about his academic status Coach Favre told TI, "He has a qualifying test score, but is one point short on his GPA. We're waiting on the grades from last semester, but as of right now, he's one point short. We're 99% sure that he will qualify."
