Wave Men To Play USM This Saturday In Hattiesburg

After its thrilling overtime victory against UAB on Wednesday night, the Tulane University men's basketball team will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face Southern Miss in another Conference USA game on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. The game will be televised live on Cox Sports TV throughout the state (Channel 37 in New Orleans)

NEW ORLEANS, La. – After its thrilling overtime victory against UAB on Wednesday night, the Tulane University men's basketball team will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face Southern Miss in another Conference USA game on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. The game will be televised live on Cox Sports TV throughout the state (Channel 37 in New Orleans).

The game will also be available on the stations of the Tulane-ISP Radio Network (WTIX 690 AM in New Orleans).

Tulane (7-9, 1-4 C-USA) continued its run of success against UAB on Wednesday evening as freshman Taylor Rochestie hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer in overtime to clinch the 76-73 victory. The Green Wave has now won five of the six meetings with the Blazers, who advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen last season.

Rochestie finished the game with 14 points, while junior center Quincy Davis had 20 points. Freshman David Gomez registered his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Ben Benfield added a season-best 14-point performance.

Southern Miss is looking to earn its first C-USA win under first-year head coach Larry Eustachy this weekend. The Golden Eagles are 9-8 overall, but 0-5 in league play. Big man Jasper Johnson leads the team with 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, while Rashaad Caruth, a transfer guard from Kentucky, has 11.3 points per game, including 25 three-pointers. Sophomore Jarekus Singleton also hits for double figures with 10.0 points per outing. Eustachy plays 10 players significant minutes in an offense which averages 71.5 points per game.

Tulane is led by Davis, who has 13.6 points per game, while senior guard Marcus Kinzer is averaging 13.1 points and a team-best 5.1 assists per outing. Rochestie is also in double figures with 10.9 points per game.

Following Saturday's game, the Green Wave travels to play the University of Houston on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
