Tulane (3-2) saw its two-game win streak come to an end Friday at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Alabama, in the USA Basketball Classic. The Green Wave shot a meager 38.2% from the field and 43.8% from the charity stripe as Tulane fell to UC-Davis 76-62.
outscored the Aggies 20-9 in the final 7:57 of the first half to take a 29-26 lead to the locker room. Guard Kevin Sims
hit a three-pointer with 10:32 to give the Green Wave a 48-47 advantage; however this would be Tulane's final lead of the game. UC-Davis would go on a 16-5 run to put the game out of reach. The Aggies shot a blistering 62% from the field and hit 12 of 13 free throws in the second half. UC-Davis outscored Tulane 50-33 in the second stanza.
One bright spot for the Green Wave was the post play of forward Asim McQueen and center Robinson Louisme. McQueen posted a career-high 20 points and led the Green Wave with 8 rebounds. Louisme was the only other Tulane player to hit double-digits with 13 points. Louisme also contributed 7 rebounds, a pair of blocked shots, and one steal.
Tulane returns to action tomorrow at 5 p.m. against the loser of the South Alabama - Maine contest.
