Weekend Prospect Review: Week One

UCLA's committed quarterback, Brett Hundley, has a perfect night and another UCLA target, Brent Walker and his Norco squad get a big win over Crenshaw, in Week One action...

Game of the Week: Norco def. Crenshaw, 25-21
Norco got a measure of revenge on Crenshaw, who they lost to narrowly a year ago, with a 25-21 win, sealed when Stanford bound Kelsey Young rambled in from 37-yards out with just over five minutes left and Norco stopped Crenshaw in the finals to hold on.  Young ran for 297 yards and two 70-yard+ touchdowns in the win, many off the block of UCLA lean Brent Walker.   Crenshaw running back DeAnthony Thomas, a USC commit, had 93 yards and two scores in the loss.

Lakewood def. St. John Bosco, 27-7
A stingy defense, led by Todd Barr and Rahim Cassell helped the Lancers roll to an easy victory over St. John Bosco.  Lakewood quarterback Tyler Shultz went 17-for-25 for 241 yards and spread the ball out to nine receivers, including six to Darius Powe and three to Malik Gilmore, a pair of elite 2012 receivers for the Lancers.  Lakewood's secondary also kept another elite 2012 receiver, Bosco's Bryce Treggs, out of the end zone, a week after an 8/184/2 TD game.

Gardena Serra def. Redondo Union, 37-13
Recent UCLA offeree Marqise Lee did it all for the Cavs, picking off a pass and catching two touchdown passes, and had five tackles while another UCLA target, Jason Gibson, had seven tackles and a sack in the Cavs' 17th straight win.

Chandler def. Casa Grande, 51-0
Fresh off making his college choice at the beginning of the week, Chandler quarterback Brett Hundley, who gave that verbal to UCLA, had an efficient night- going 3-for-3, all for touchdowns passes and 179 yards in just over a quarter's work.  Hundley threw all three touchdown passes in the first quarter before giving way to the reserves, as they jumped out to a 28-0 lead just 10:35 into the contest.

Mission Viejo def. Loyola, 42-7
With starting quarterback Jerry Neuheisel battling a stomach ailment all night, the Cubs were no match for the loaded Diablos, and Mission Viejo cruised to a 42-7 win.  Neuheisel was 8-for-10 for 91 yards and an interception.

Stockton Lincoln def. Stockton Edison, 21-6
UCLA's committed receiver Brandin Cooks, didn't score for the Trojans but they did knock off crosstown rival Edison, 21-6.
