Greg Townsend Taking His Time

The five-star defensive end from Beverly Hills (Calif.), Greg Townsend (6-4, 250), talks about his top schools and his timeline for when he plans to make a decision...

Beverly Hills (Calif.) defensive end Greg Townsend, a five-star prospect by Scout.com, is ready for early October.

That's when Townsend will take the SAT for the first time. When that is done, Townsend will get to start taking his official visits.

"After October 9th, when I take my SAT, I'll start setting up my visits," said Townsend.

In the meantime, Townsend is taking in games, unofficially, at the local schools.

Last weekend, Townsend was at the Coliseum when USC played Virginia and this past weekend, he was at the Rose Bowl when UCLA hosted Houston.

"It was good there and nice to see their first win," said Townsend.

The Bruins are back in the mix for Townsend, but he indicated that they're in the second tier for his services, with three standing out.

"USC, Washington and TCU round out the top three, then comes LSU, Miami, Oregon and UCLA," said Townsend. "I'd say Washington and USC are recruiting me the most."

Townsend said he'd like to take all five of his visits, and has the targeted date for when he wants to announce.

"I'll announce at the UnderArmour Game," said Townsend.

Townsend said he'll start deciding on where he'll take his visits after the SAT is taken.

In the meantime, Townsend is coming back from back spasms, that kept him out of last week's game.

In the opener, he had five tackles and 1.5 sacks.
