But a knee injury halfway through the season sidelined him for the year and kept him from camps during this past spring and summer.
Now back from the knee injury, Faafoi is starting to get the attention he was set to get prior to the injury.
We saw Faafoi and Tustin beat Pacifica on Thursday night, and Faafoi was playing defensive tackle exclusively in this contest. He looked quick off the ball, and was a difficult load to block, consistently drawing double teams.
"My knee, it's getting better, and I'm feeling better and working it the best I can," said Faafoi. "I'm just doing what I can for the team and try and get better every week."
Faafoi said the interest is picking up from a handful of schools.
"Since I've been back more schools are starting to take an interest, schools like Alabama, USC, UCLA and Washington," said Faafoi. "I'm getting recruited on both sides of the ball. It doesn't matter where I play, I just want to play wherever the coach wants me to."
Faafoi went to a couple of UCLA and USC games last year, and has been invited to some this year.
"They've invited me to games, I was at the USC-Virginia game and I'm going to UCLA-Washington State and USC-Washington on Saturday," said Faafoi.
The offers haven't come yet, but Faafoi thinks that could be coming soon.
"They just wanted to see some senior games before they offer," said Faafoi.
Faafoi said he was in fine shape academically.
