"I thought that it was pretty good," said Shelton. "I liked it."
While the entire weekend impressed Shelton, the time spent with the coaching staff was his favorite.
"It was hanging out with coaches," said Shelton. "Not during the game, but off the field and at dinner with them. I also really liked hanging with players."
Shelton said Coach Joe Barry has been the one recruiting him and has him convinced the program is headed in the right direction.
"The sanctions don't really bother me," said Shelton. "You still have to come out and work hard. Not being in a bowl game isn't a big deal, because it just gives you more time to work out and get better in the off-season."
Shelton's only other campus visits have been unofficial trips to see the hometown team, Washington. After his visit, he compared the Coliseum to other venues he has scene.
"It was my first time there, it was pretty cool, said Shelton. "I have never seen a stadium that big."
"I could definitely see myself playing with those guys (Tupou and Markowitz)," said Shelton. "The players were all pretty cool; they were really focused on going out and getting the job done."
Before the weekend, Shelton held offers from nine schools on the west coast. From those nine schools he had cut his list down to California, Oregon, UCLA and Washington. However, he received some news on his trip to LA that has changed things.
"When we were at dinner, I talked to the coaches about it," said Shelton. "They said I am going to have an offer and I am just waiting for them to send the official paperwork."
"I'd say that USC made it a top five, instead of four," said Shelton. "They moved ahead of Cal, I haven't been hearing from them much anymore."
With California at the bottom of the five, and USC just above them, Shelton ranked the rest of the teams.
"Oregon and Washington are tied in the lead right now," said Shelton. "With UCLA just behind them."
Shelton doesn't have any other visits on the schedule, but would like to get down to see the Golden Bear's campus.
I don't have any other officials set up," said Shelton. "I was trying to get one set up to Cal, but I haven't heard back yet."
