Scarlett plays a tight end and a rovery type position on defense in which he has the freedom to crowd the line of scrimmage or drop back behind the linebackers. He's put in an excellent position by his coaching staff to make plays, and make plays he does.
Scarlett's size has led Scout to list him as a potential defensive end who will likely play with his hand down and rush the passer full time, but he has the instincts and athleticism to be a full time outside linebacker in the right scheme. He is strong at the point of attack and covers a lot of ground with his long strides. He plays with natural leverage, but also looks like he could benefit from full time in the weight room. His size, instincts and athleticism make him and elite prospect and if he continues to develop he should become and elite player on the next level.
Scarlett has a laundry list of top scholarship offers including California, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, and USC.
