Weekend Prospect Review: Week 6

There wasn't a great slate of games this past week, but some UCLA recruits did well, including Stockton Lincoln receiver Brandin Cooks, a Bruin commit, who scored the winning touchdown for Lincoln...

Game of the Week: Norco def. Corona Santiago, 49-28
The Cougars bounced back from their first loss of the season, to rout Santiago and stay in the mix for the Big VIII title.  Kelsey Young, a Stanford commit, who has two fumbles in the first half, ran for 219 yards in the second half and finished with 264 yards and four rushing touchdowns, thanks largely to a Norco offensive line, with UCLA recruit Brent Walker paving the way, and also returned a punt for a touchdown.

Chandler def. Red Mountain, 28-22
Committed quarterback Brett Hundley shook off an ankle injury to lead the Wolves past Red Mountain, 28-22.  He was 12-for-19 for 219 yards, including 8-of-9 in the second half, and set up the go-ahead score with a scrambling 29-yard pass and set up another score with a 77-yard crossing pattern.

Notre Dame def. Loyola, 21-18
With quarterback Jerry Neuheisel still on the mend and out with a concussion, the Cubs offense sputtered all night, going 4-for-16 in the air, and Notre Dame won on a last minute field goal.  Running back Jared Baker ran for 217 yards on 27 carries for the Cubs.

Bishop Amat def. Encino Crespi, 31-28
The Lancers stayed unbeaten by rallying in the fourth quarter past Crespi, with two fourth-quarter touchdowns.  New UCLA offer recipient Devin Lucien had a nine-yard touchdown reception in the loss.

Lakewood def. Long Beach Cabrillo, 40-14
The Lancers bounced back from their first loss with a 40-14 trouncing of Cabrillo.  Todd Barr had four tackles for loss and a sack and junior receiver Darius Powe had two touchdown receptions in the win.
